2.EXPLAIN IDIOM 称兄道弟 (chēng xiōng dào dì)


IDIOMS : 称兄道弟 chēng xiōng dào dì

Meaning: To be like brothers

It can be understood with an example. I have a best friend. I consider him not only as my friend but also as my brother. I love him like my own brother although we are not related by blood. I can say that he is my brother from another mother or brother by heart. He is not related to me by blood. That's why I am using this phrase to show our brotherhood and our mutual love. The phrase simply shows the brotherhood and mutual love between two people even though they are not related by blood a friend who you know very well and have a very good relationship with: We stick up for each other like we're brothers from another mother.


Example : 

他和他们的儿孙称兄道弟。  

tā hé tāmen de érsūn chēngxiōngdàodì

He fraternized with their sons and grandsons.


当玻璃灯斥责陶土灯与它称兄道弟时月亮升起。  

dāng bōlídēng chìzé táotŭ dēng yŭ tā chēngxiōngdàodì shí yuèliàng shēngqĭ

While the glass lamp rebukes the earthen for calling its cousin, the moon rises.


高级军官不愿意与大兵们称兄道弟。  

gāojí jūnguān bù yuànyì yŭ dàbīng men chēngxiōngdàodì 。

The brass is reluctant to fraternize with the enlisted men.
