USE OF 究竟 (jiùjìng)
究竟 intensifies the question and gives emphasis to the interrogative tone. It means “actually”, or “exactly”, and it’s used to press for an exact answer.
Example :
明天的会究竟谁去参加?
Míngtiān de huì
jiùjìng shéi qù cānjiā?
Who is actually going to the meeting tomorrow ?
究竟 吃 什么？每天 都 得 想 这个 问题！
jiūjìnɡ chī shénme？měitiān dōu dé xiǎnɡ zhèɡe wèntí！
What on earth do you want to eat? We have this problem every day!
别再让我们矇在鼓里了，结局究竟怎么样？
Bié zài ràng wǒmen méng zài gǔ lǐle, jiéjú jiùjìng zěnme yàng?
Don't keep us in suspense any longer -- what happens at the end of the story?
你究竟要挑选哪一个？
Nǐ jiùjìng yào tiāoxuǎn nǎ yīgè?
Which are you going to choose ?
你究竟为什么不那样讲？
