完 (wán) indicates the action has finish or completed , when we make resultative complement we use action verb before 完 (wán).
他的书写完了。
Tā de shūxiě wánle.
He's finished writing his book.
油用完了。
yóu yòng wán le.
The oil has run out.
食物吃完了。
shíwù chī wán le.
The food was eaten up.
蜡烛烧完了。
làzhú shāo wán le
The candle burnt out.
